Emergency preparedness skills for professional drivers online – take the course remotely

The participant of the online course on emergency first aid for professional drivers receives one (1) seven (7) hour professional continuing education day for truck and bus drivers.

Online training is a good fit for you who want to complete the training anywhere, regardless of the location.

The training can be divided into two consecutive days, according to the opening hours of the guardhouse. The guardhouse is open from Monday to Thursday from 8:00 to 22:00 and from Friday to Saturday from 8:00 to 16:00.

Valvomo is closed on weekdays and Sundays.

How do I register for the course?

Choose the date that suits you from the calendar displayed on the right side of this page. After selecting, the date of the training will be displayed below the calendar.

Select “Online course”, after which you can fill in the participant information. You can add more participants at the same time by pressing ”add participant” if necessary. To obtain a professional qualification mark, when registering for the training, check the ”Trafi mark” checkbox and add your personal ID to the adjacent prize.

“By clicking the ”Add to basket" button, you can add participants to the training course and then proceed to the checkout. At the checkout, you can fill in your billing details and payment methods.

The link and code for the training platform will be sent to the participant's email by the latest on the following business day after registration.

Equipment required for participation

To participate in the training, you need an internet connection and a computer, tablet, or smartphone through which the participant and the supervisor can chat. The phone and email are used as backup connections.

Note! This training program cannot be used for online learning, which is subject to a 12-hour budget limit.

Delivery of the online course

The training is distance learning conducted online (e-learning). Distance learning is carried out using technical connectivity, whereby the trainee studies online under the supervision of a trainer, guided by a technical system. The technical connectivity must enable the identification of the trainee in a reliable manner.

The participant studies the system-guided and supervised remote learning materials independently and performs the tasks related to each subject. The participant must complete each task in order to progress in the training. The system provides feedback on the completed task.

The training platform is the online training platform of kuljetus.fi.

Emergency first aid skills of professional drivers training objectives

After completing the training, you will know how to act properly in a traffic accident or occupational accident, make a quick assessment of the situation, call for emergency assistance, and prevent further damage. You will learn how to guide help to the scene, assist the injured, and provide effective first aid.

You recognize the signs of unconsciousness, open your airway properly, and provide the necessary first aid. You can also recognize the signs of lifelessness and perform a chest compressions resuscitation and use a cardiac monitor safely.

The training provides the skills to treat various wounds, stop heavy bleeding, and help a victim of a stroke. You will learn how to act correctly when there is a foreign object in the airways, and how to prevent common workplace safety risks and accidents.

You understand the need for mental support related to accidents and injuries, and you know how to support the person in the situation.

Content of the training – 7 lessons of effective first aid and occupational safety knowledge

The training consists of seven expert-level lessons covering all first aid and emergency skills for professional drivers. Each lesson lasts an average of 45 minutes, and the total duration of the training without breaks is 5 hours and 15 minutes. However, we recommend taking sufficient breaks to ensure the learning capacity.

Lesson 1: Actions at the accident scene and the driver's driving skills

You will learn to assess the situation, secure the accident scene, and understand the role of driving safety in safe traffic.

Lesson 2: Foreign object in the airways, unconsciousness and head injuries

Practical instructions for clearing airway obstruction, identifying unconsciousness, and providing first aid for head injuries.

Lesson 3: Heart attack and resuscitation

Comprehensive skills in recognizing the symptoms of a heart attack, handling an emergency situation, and performing proper chest compressions and defibrillator use.

Lesson 4: Bleeding and shock

You will learn to manage heavy bleeding, safely stop the bleeding, and provide first aid to a shock patient.

Lesson 5: First aid and treatment of wounds

A comprehensive overview of wound identification, cleaning, and follow-up care.

Lesson 6: Eye injuries and first aid equipment for professional drivers

Instructions for first aid for eye injuries, as well as the most important first aid supplies that a professional driver should have on hand.

Lesson 7: Mental First Aid and situational exercises

You learn to support the victim of an accident mentally and practice practical situations so that you can act confidently in real-life situations.

Professional driver's emergency first aid skills driver CPC training entry for the online course

The participant of the online course on emergency driver skills will receive one (1) day of continuing professional education for truck and bus drivers. The training program does not include instruction on promoting safe, economical, and environmentally friendly driving.

To get the driver CPC (AMP) entry, tick the ”Trafi record” box when registering for the training and enter your Finnish personal identity code in the field that appears next to it.

In addition to the training fee, we charge the Trafi registration fee of €13 (VAT 0%) and an office fee of €4 + VAT.
