COOKIE POLICY

Updated: 16 October 2026

This cookie policy explains which cookies and similar technologies Suomen Turvallisuusopisto Oy uses on the website turvallisuusopisto.fi, what they are used for and how you can control their use.

Read more about how we process personal data in our privacy policy.

1. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website saves in your browser. A website can also save data in the browser's local storage (localStorage and sessionStorage). In this policy, we call all of these cookies.

Some cookies are necessary for the website and the online shop to work. We use other cookies only with your consent.

2. How consent works

When you arrive on the website, you will see a cookie notice. You can accept all cookies, reject all cookies except the necessary ones, or use the Customise button to choose which cookie categories you allow.

Until you make a choice, the website uses only necessary cookies. Analytics and marketing services do not start or save cookies before you give your consent.

Your choice is saved in your browser for 12 months. After that, we will ask for your choice again. We will also ask again if our cookie policy changes significantly.

Changing your choice and withdrawing consent

You can change your choice or withdraw your consent at any time using the Consent Settings link at the bottom of the website. If you allow a cookie category later, the services in it start immediately.

If you withdraw your consent, the page reloads and the services in that category no longer start. At the same time, we delete from your browser the Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_WTY0HMB74Q), the Google Ads cookies (_gcl_*), the order source data (sbjs_*) and the data saved by Trustmary (tmary).

The following data remains in your browser until it expires or you delete it in your browser settings. However, it is no longer used, because the services do not start:

  • Hotjar cookies (_hj*)
  • data saved locally by Google Ads (_gcl_ls)
  • cookies of other domains, such as doubleclick.net and Zapier

You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block all cookies, the shopping cart and checkout, for example, will not work.

3. Cookie categories and the cookies used

The durations are maximum periods. “Session” means that the data is deleted when you close the browser or the tab.

3.1 Necessary (always on)

These cookies are needed for the website's basic functions, the online shop and saving your cookie choice. They do not require consent.

Online payments are made on the pages of the payment service provider Paytrail and the banks, which follow their own cookie policies.

3.2 Preferences

Preference cookies would remember your choices, such as your language. The website does not currently use cookies in this category. The language version is shown in the page address, for example /en/.

3.3 Analytics (only with consent)

We use analytics to find out how the website is used, so that we can improve it.

For some visits, Hotjar records how the website is used, for example mouse movements, clicks, scrolling and the content shown on the page. Numbers and email addresses are masked in the recordings.

3.4 Marketing (only with consent)

With marketing cookies, we measure how effective our advertising is, target advertising and find out which campaign an order came from. With the same consent, we show Trustmary customer reviews. If you do not allow marketing cookies, the customer reviews are not shown.

When you place an order and have given marketing consent, we send Google Ads the order value excluding VAT and an identifier created for the order. The identifier is not the order number. Your name, contact details and the contents of the order are not sent. Analytics and marketing services are not used at all on the online payment page.

4. Chat

The website's chat assistant runs on a service provided by Zapier Inc. in the United States. The chat loads only when you open it with the chat button. After that, the chat also loads automatically on the following pages in the same browser tab until you close the tab. In a new tab, the chat loads only when you open it again.

When the chat loads, Zapier saves the chat session data under its own domain. Zapier also uses the Datadog service in the chat to monitor the performance and errors of its own service. Datadog sets the cookie _dd_s. This monitoring is part of Zapier's service, and we cannot turn it off. The consent settings do not affect the chat. If you do not want this data to be saved, do not open the chat. You can also contact us by phone or email.

Zapier processes the messages you write in the chat. Do not write sensitive information in the chat.

5. Transfers of data outside the EU and the EEA

  • Google: data may also be processed in the United States. Google LLC is certified under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and Google's data protection terms also use the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
  • Zapier and the Datadog service it uses in the chat: data is processed in the United States. Zapier is certified under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and its data processing agreement uses standard contractual clauses.
  • Hotjar: data is stored in the EU (Ireland). Some of Hotjar's subprocessors operate outside the EU. Transfers to them use the Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
  • Trustmary: a Finnish service whose data is stored in the EU. Some of Trustmary's subprocessors also operate in the United States.

The providers' own privacy policies:

6. Supervisory authority

The use of cookies is supervised by the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom. The processing of personal data is supervised by the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman.
