Nordic training for income tax card

The Nordic Fire Card training gives you a personal Fire Card issued by SPEK (The Finnish Central Organization for Emergency Services). The card is valid for five years. The training is delivered in a classroom setting and includes both theory and practical firefighting exercises.

  • Issuer: SPEK, card valid for 5 years (in Finland, Norway and Denmark)
  • Duration: about 8 hours, one training day
  • Implementation: in-person instruction
  • The price includes: training material, plastic attendance card, electronic mobile card as well as, if necessary, a certificate of training
  • Suitable for: you who do not yet have a work permit, or whose previous work permit has already expired

Which jobs are fireside jobs?

All work involving the generation of sparks or the use of open flame or high temperatures is considered a fire hazard. Examples include:

  • Gas and arc welding
  • Gas and arc cutting
  • Haircut
  • Metal grinding
  • Work involving a gas torch, open flame, hot air blower or other similar device that produces strong radiant heat

Who needs a Hot Work Certificate?

  • Night workerWhen working at a temporary paid job, the paid worker must have a valid paid work card
  • Night shift guard: requires safety training required by the work; the valid card is not automatically required — it only becomes mandatory if the client's requirements or the client's insurance company's protection instructions so require
  • Authorizing body for work permitsHe/She must also have a valid work permit

What does the training program include?

The training day combines theory and practice:

  1. Theory — fire hazards, their prevention and safe working procedures before, during and after firefighting
  2. Practical fire extinguishing exercise — with the right extinguishing equipment
  3. Written exam — obtaining the card requires passing an approved test

The building trades training and roofing and waterproofing training were combined on January 1, 2016, so the same qualification qualifies for both.


How long is the work permit valid for?

The income card issued by SPEK is valid for five years after the course has been completed. It is also valid in Norway and Denmark, and the cards issued in these countries are valid in Finland. Sweden updated its own income tax training in 2023, so cards issued after July 1, 2023 are no longer valid in Sweden, nor are Swedish cards valid in Finland.


What is included in the price?

The price includes:

  • Training material (in addition to Finnish, if necessary, a plain-language or another language version to support the training)
  • Plastic entry card that is sent by mail to the address you have provided
  • Course supplies
  • Certificate of education, if applicable

Is training available in other languages?

What if I have learning difficulties or uncertainty about the test language?

No worries. If the written exam feels challenging, let the trainer know about it in person on the training day — the trainer can, if necessary, take the exam with you verbally.

Can the training be ordered for another person?

Yes. Add the participant's details under the selected training when you register.

Is this training counted as continuing professional education for drivers?

No — the training for the driving license is not accepted as part of the continuing professional development program for truck and bus drivers.
