Who is the training suitable for?

The training is very well suited for both individuals with no previous experience in emergency response and those who want to update or expand upon previously learned skills. Our trainers have trained companies in the industrial, electrical, service, and office sectors, as well as healthcare facilities with their staff. The course content is tailored to take into account the circumstances of your workplace and the risks of accidents.

What does the course include?

The emergency response content covers the core expertise in emergency response:

  • Action in a helping situation
  • Identifying the unconscious person and first aid
  • Adult CPR and defibrillator use
  • First aid for a person with a choking episode
  • Stopping major bleeding
  • First aid for blood circulation disorder (shock)
  • Accident prevention
  • Group-specific adjustments if necessary

The training covers everyday situations where emergency assistance is urgently needed — for example, heart attacks, choking, basic resuscitation, bleeding and shock.

Who is leading the training?

Those responsible for the training are the paramedics who work full-time, the ambulance drivers who work at the nursing level, and the nurses.

Is education open to everyone, or just to workplaces?

The training is primarily an open webinar for everyone — you can register as an individual participant without the entire workplace needing to participate together. However, if you want the training specifically for your own team, we can also organize it as a separate group training.

How do you participate in the webinar practically?

The training is conducted in real time via a webinar led by the trainer. You can ask questions directly during the training, and the trainer ensures that the key techniques and operating models are clearly covered even over a remote connection.

You need to participate to:

  • A computer or other device with a working camera and microphone
  • Stable internet connection
  • Up-to-date browser or application required to participate

Can I continue with the EA1 qualification with this course?

Yes. The course also serves as a refresher course for the SPR First Aid EA1® course. If you want an additional three years of validity for your EA1 course certificate, you must present a valid EA1 course certificate or card.

Is the training covered by the Kela reimbursement scheme?

Yes. The Occupational Safety and Health Act obliges the employer to ensure the provision of first aid at the workplace, and Kela Under the Health Insurance Act, sickness insurance can reimburse the employer or entrepreneur for the necessary and reasonable costs incurred in maintaining first aid readiness — including for first aid training organized for staff. Our courses meet the requirements set by the Finnish Centre for Pensions.

In practice, getting the compensation requires:

  • That the organization has occupational health care properly organized
  • That the training needs are recorded in the occupational health care service’s action plan
  • The compensation covers a maximum of 60 % costs, within the limits of the maximum amount established annually by Kela and the decision made by it.
  • Employers seek compensation within six months of the end of the accounting period, entrepreneurs within six months of payment of the invoice

For more detailed, up-to-date instructions on claiming the compensation, you should check directly. From the Kelan website.
